Chimney Caps/Spark Arrestors
A chimney should have a chimney cap installed on top. This will stop large burning embers from escaping the chimney, and it will also keep animals, debris and water from getting into the chimney. It is essential to keep the rain water out of your chimney. Water is the number one enemy of chimneys because it not only causes a sooty odor when it mixes with soot but also creates an acid that breaks down mortar. It can drip on the damper-causing it to rust and warp. For prefabricated fireplaces, not just any chimney cap will do: they must have the proper manufacturer specified chimney cap. If you need a new chimney cap, Lords can make sure you have the correct cap and that it is properly installed.
Chimney Liners

My husband and I purchased a 1910 Queen Anne Victorian home in the Heights which was more than just a small weekend project! One of the restoration tasks included completely gutting the old fireplace, chase, and chimney as they were not to code or functioning properly. Lords Chimney worked many hours on our "little" project removing the old brick (a very dirty job!) and retrofitting an entirely new system, even taking care to match the chimney brickets to the original brick color. The original brick was saved and placed in a nice pile for us in the back yard so that we could use it to lay a patio. We are so thrilled with our new fireplace and lovely gas logs. Carbon monoxide can enter your home if your chimney's flue doesn't have a liner, if a terracotta liner has become cracked or broken, or if your chimney is missing tiles or mortar joints. Lords can check to make sure none of these occurs-and install a safe, durable stainless steel chimney liner with a life-time warranty if a problem is present.
Top Sealing Dampers
More efficient than the typical throat damper, a top sealing damper forms an air-tight seal at the top of the chimney to prevent heat loss from your home. If you want a more energy efficient home, Lords can install a top damper on your chimney.
Ventilation Fans
If your fireplace does not vent, smoke and/or carbon monoxide may enter your home and pollute your air. A ventilation fan is a surefire way to fix this problem. Installed on the top of the flue, the fan will create an updraft in your chimney that will assure no smoke or carbon monoxide in your home.
